Twin Peeks: A Pop-Up Exhibit & Book Release Honoring the Mystery and Magic of Twin Peaks

February 1, 2025

There’s something about a small town with a neon-lit diner, towering peaks, and an undercurrent of mystery that makes it the perfect setting for an unconventional story. For seven years, photographer Scott Rinckenberger has watched and documented a world both familiar and bizarre unfold before his lens—right outside the second-floor window of his North Bend studio. Now, in a special pop-up show and book release, he invites you to step into the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peeks.

A New Perspective on an Iconic Location

Nestled in the heart of North Bend, the Scott Rinckenberger's studio sits across from Twede’s Café, the real-life Double R Diner of Twin Peaks fame. From this vantage point, Scott has spent years capturing the characters who pass through—a mix of devoted fans, unsuspecting diners, and the occasional eccentric figure who looks like they just walked off a Lynchian set.

Scott’s images channel the gritty imperfections and dreamlike realism that made Twin Peaks a cult phenomenon. As an artist known for dramatic landscapes and adventure photography, Twin Peeks is an unexpected departure for Scott—but one that fully embraces curiosity, humor, and the voyeuristic thrill of storytelling through observation.

A Show Seven Years in the Making

The Twin Peeks pop-up exhibition will run for one weekend only—February 21-23, 2025—coinciding with the Real Twin Peaks Weekend in North Bend. Join us on opening night (Friday, February 21, from 5–9 PM) for damn fine coffee, cherry pie, and neatly stacked donuts, as we celebrate the launch of this singular body of work.

What finally pushed Scott to share this long-percolating project? The passing of legendary filmmaker David Lynch on January 16, 2025.

I could have kept noodling on this project indefinitely, in fact, I probably will to some extent. But in order to share this work, which is such a vast departure from my standard fare, I needed a catalyst. The passing of David Lynch on January 16, 2025 was just that. On one hand, his passing served as a deadline of sorts for a project that hovered for years in the ether. If not now, when?
More importantly, though – thinking about David Lynch, his work and his artistic approach gave me a sort of permission to show work that might feel off-brand, weird, fringe or even confusing.  What better time to let one’s freak-flag fly than when honoring the legacy of an artist who refused to be defined by convention, who was more than happy to follow the muse wherever he saw fit to lead, and who felt no compulsion to justify or explain his flights of creative fancy. —

Limited Edition Photography Book Release

To accompany the exhibition, Scott is releasing a limited edition photography book featuring select images from the Twin Peeks project. This 120-page, 8x8” softcover collection is a must-have for Twin Peaks devotees, photography lovers, and anyone fascinated by the quirks of human nature. The book also includes quotes from David Lynch, adding another layer of depth to the already surreal narrative unfolding within its pages.

“Using black and white film photography and a Cold War-era zoom lens, this work harkens to the gritty imperfections of David Lynch’s heyday, creating a timeless capture of human nature at its most beguiling,” Scott says.

Signed copies will be available at the gallery during the show, and pre-orders are open now for those eager to claim their piece of this one-of-a-kind project.

Join Us for a Weekend of Mystery, Nostalgia, and Damn Fine Art

Whether you’re a die-hard Twin Peaks fan, a lover of documentary photography, or simply someone who enjoys the odd and unexpected, Twin Peeks promises a unique experience.

“There’s a comfort when you realize your ideas are realized. You’ve worked so that all the elements are working together, and it feels complete and correct, and you say it’s done. Then it goes out into the world, but it doesn’t need any more explanation. It is what it is.” – David Lynch
